The Spanish giants will face the Serie A side on Wednesday, and go into the game on the back of four successive wins in LaLiga.
However, Los Blancos' latest upward trend is almost a mystery, with several of the club's star players being sidelined with injury.
"The situation is what it is. There are a lot of injuries," Zidane said, as quoted by Marca.
"I hope the players recover, but I don't know about next week.
"At the moment we have a lot of injuries, but the players we have are committed and we'll continue with them. It's complicated, but you have to keep going."
Karim Benzema is the latest star to be injured, joining the likes of Eden Hazard and Sergio Ramos on the sidelines.
As a consequence, Zidane has included Real Castilla players Diego Altube, Victor Chust, Miguel Gutierrez, Sergio Arribas, Antonio Blanco and Hugo Duro in his travelling squad.
Excluding those players, Los Blancos will have only 12 fit first-team stars for their trip to Atalanta.
