According to FourFourTwo, the Citizens will not need to make many signings to stay ahead of the pack next season, but there are certain positions they feel need a bit of depth or require fresh legs.

Defence is one area of the field the publication feels City require some new faces in, with the suggestion that the English champions should invest in a centre back, a right back and a left back when the transfer window opens.

Tottenham Hotspur contract rebel Toby Alderweireld is an option for Guardiola as it seems unlikely he will sign a new contract with the London club, while two unlikely targets who could strengthen City even further are Chelsea's Cesar Azpilicueta and Bayern Munich's David Alaba.

Although Man City have already got an amazing array of talent going forward, they could be tempted to add depth to that department, and Red Bull Leipzig's Timo Werner and the Blues winger Eden Hazard could help take them to the next level, especially in the UEFA Champions League, according to FFT.

Guardiola's side have been linked with many players ahead of the 2018/19, but, of those, FFT feels that Bayern's Thiago Alcantara, Atletico Madrid's Antoine Griezmann and Crystal Palace's Wilfried Zaha would not be smart buys, mainly there are better and more consistent performers in the current squad.

FC Barcelona stalwart Sergio Busquets and former Manchester United defender Jonny Evans are another two players the publication believes the English champions should avoid, due to their age.
