This week we saw Manchester United superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic make his return to the UEFA Champions League and along the way also set a new milestone. Today we look at 10 European records and the players who currently hold them.

The former Sweden international became the first footballer to represent seven different sides in Europe’s elite club competition.

The 35-year-old has played for Paris Saint-Germain, FC Barcelona, AC Milan, Inter Milan, Juventus, Ajax Amsterdam and now the Red Devils.

Ibrahimovic’s record inspired the English publication The Sun to take a look back at 10 famous records and who the stars are holding them to this day.

Here are 10 records and their famous holders, according to the Sun:

1. Most appearances in the competition – Iker Casillas (166 appearances)

2. Top goalscorer in the Champions League – Cristiano Ronaldo (113 goals)

3. Most goals in a single UCL  season – Cristiano Ronaldo (17 goals)

4. The oldest player in the competition – Marco Ballotta (43 years and 253 days)

5. The youngest player to score in the Champions League – Peter Ofori-Quaye (17 years and 195 days)

6. The oldest player to score in the Europe’s elite competition – Francesco Totti (38 years and 59 days)

7. The player who has won the Champions League with three different clubs –  Clarence Seedorf (Ajax 1995, Real Madrid 1998 and AC Milan 2003 and 2007)

8. Most  sendings-off in the competition – Edgar Davids and Zlatan Ibrahimovic (4 dismissals)

9. Most yellow cards  – Paul Scholes (32 yellow cards)

10. The youngest player to play in the competition – Celestine Babayaro (16 years and 87 days)
