The Egyptian hit the back of the net twice in Liverpool’s 5-2 first leg semi-final win against Roma on Tuesday, and has now struck 13 times in the European competition in 26 games overall, while 10 of those strikes have come in this season for the Reds.
Salah has already scored more goals than certain players who have been taking part in the Champions League for many years, such as Chelsea winger Eden Hazard. According to Transfermarkt, the Belgian has found the back of the net in the UCL on just eight occasions, and has played more than double the games Salah has.
The 25-year-old has also already scored more goals in Europe’s biggest club competition than ex-Real Madrid striker Robinho, and Manchester United’s Alexis Sanchez, who like Hazard, has played more than double the amount of games in the UCL than Salah has.
Names such as Douglas Costa, Michael Owen, Mesut Ozil and Andres Iniesta are also all on the list, with the latter scoring 11 UCL goals in 130 games.
Salah has also outscored relatively new Chelsea duo Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud, who have both struck just 12 times in the competition.
The Liverpool star is also now the leading African scorer in a single Champions League campaign, breaking the former record of eight goals held by Samuel Eto’o.
