With 50 days until the start of the World Cup in Brazil, Soccer Laduma takes a look back at our Top 50 World Cup moments.
We start with number 50 - David Beckham receiving a red card against Argentina in the 1998 FIFA World Cup in France.
For those who remember, Beckham was sent off against Argentina in their last 16 clash, when he kicked out at Diego Simeone.
Beckham went from hero (in England’s final group game against Colombia he scored a great free kick) to villain after a hot-headed moment that left a nation in tears.
England went on to lose the match in a penalty shoot-out after it ended 2-2. The match also included a wonder goal from a young Michael Owen.
England had heroically fought for over an hour with just ten men on the field, but in the end, the lottery of penalties saw England exit the tournament.
