Reports: Shock Club Approaches Arsenal’s Arsene Wenger
It has been reported that a shock European giant club has approached under fire Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger over his availability for next season.
The Frenchman’s position at Arsenal seems more under threat than ever this season, with many fans and pundits believing this will be his last campaign as the club’s boss.
Wenger, who has been at the Gunners since 1996, has received harsh criticism over the last five years, with several of the club’s supporters calling for his head.
French publication Le10 Sport have reported that Wenger has been offered somewhat of a lifeline by French giants Paris Saint-Germain, who are interested in luring him to Paris.
President Nasser Al-Khelaifi is said to be disappointed with Unai Emery’s failure to reach the quarter finals of the UEFA Champions League, following their 5-2 aggregate loss to Real Madrid in the round of 16.
The report claims that PSG have been chasing Wenger’s signature for many years, but due to their situation and Arsenal’s, they have now stepped up their chase.
Wenger last won the Premier League in the 2003/04 campaign, and last season’s fifth-place finish was the club’s worst since the manager took charge.
The Gunners are currently sixth in the EPL this season, eight points behind Chelsea in fifth-place, and 13 points behind fourth-place Tottenham Hotspur.
