The Blues have linked up with one of Africa’s biggest clubs Orlando Pirates and Shield to bring you the second instalment of the Sbonis’iDiski campaign. In 2017, 500 hopefuls from across the country put their football skills to the test with the hope of winning the ultimate prize: the chance to train at Chelsea Football Club’s world-class training facility in Cobham.

This year, though, the winner will not only win a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Chelsea and train at their facilities, but he will also receive a one-year professional contract with the Orlando Pirates MultiChoice Diski Challenge team.

Building on the successes of last year, South Africa’s #1 selling deodorant brand, Shield, is continuing its commitment to empower South African football talent. Year two will see Shield continue the partnership with Chelsea F.C., while also introducing a brand-new partnership with Orlando Pirates Football Club.

Orlando Pirates will offer their expert coaches who will help train and develop raw football talent across the country and give one hard-working player the chance to realise his dream by signing a one-year professional contract with the Orlando Pirates Development team, in addition to the once in a lifetime opportunity of training Chelsea's .

Ex-Pirates coach Palacios, who is now working as the club’s Media & Supporters Coordination Manager, told Soccer Laduma how massive an opportunity this really is.

“This campaign gives Orlando Pirates the opportunity to find new players. We don’t often scout in Durban, Cape Town or Pretoria. It’s a great opportunity for the one player that will be selected,” he said at the launch event of the second year of the Sbonis’iDiski campaign.

“He has one year to impress. The players must not only think about the MDC team, because if you are good, you will go directly to the first team. The opportunity is so great, and there is no pressure. But the players mustn’t just show talent and skills, they must also work hard.

“It will help Pirates’ scouting network, because with the help of Chelsea and Shield, we will now find at least one very talented player.

“His life will be changed, because he maybe comes from a poor family, maybe he doesn’t have soccer boots, maybe he has to borrow soccer boots. Now he can get a contract and earn a salary.

“Maybe the mother is a domestic worker, maybe the father is not working, but the son can now become a professional player. This partnership with Shield and Chelsea is a great opportunity for everyone involved.”

To enter, consumers can purchase any Shield product and redeem by calling *120*744353# for a chance to win.
