Pirates Legend: I Want To Find Future Bafana Stars!

With the regional trials of this year's campaign having begun on 12 May in Johannesburg, the former Bafana and Pirates star chatted to Soccer Laduma about the aims of the campaign, which offers the winner a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Chelsea as well as a contract with Pirates’ MDC team.

Back in his heyday, Fish was a no-nonsense defender and always put his body on the line whenever his was on the field. These days, the 44-year-old wants to give back to the game and, together with Shield and Chelsea, unearth local talent.

"My dream is that the youngster does not only have the opportunity to train at Chelsea and has the life-changing opportunity to earn a contract with Pirates, train with Pirates, but who knows, perhaps even go on and become a Bafana Bafana football star," he told Soccer Laduma.

"We know in South Africa we have talent, lots of talent. And it is great to give some of the talented youngsters the chance to show their skills and give them an opportunity to showcase their talent.

"The talent in South Africa is phenomenal. There are lots of talents in our country and we hope to unearth some of the best in the five regions.

"The idea is to give some of the kids exposure and to change lives, but also to give one player an opportunity to become a Bafana Bafana player. That is my goal!"
