Chelsea have officially announced that they have agreed terms with Atletico Madrid for wantaway striker Diego Costa.
"Chelsea Football Club has today agreed terms with Atletico Madrid for the transfer of Diego Costa," a brief statement on the Blues' official website read.
"The transfer will be subject to the agreement of personal terms and a medical."
Atletico have also confirmed the agreement, stating that Costa will arrive for a medical and contract signing in the coming days.
"Atletico de Madrid and Chelsea have reached an initial agreement for the transfer of Diego Costa. The agreement is pending the formalisation of the contract between our club and the Spanish international forward. The English club has authorised Diego Costa to travel to Madrid in the coming days to undergo medical tests and settle his contract with our club," a statement from Atletico read.
Costa scored 22 goals and assisted another eight strikes for the Blues last season, but was told he is not Antonio Conte's plans for the current campaign. The striker returns to Atletico having previously scored 64 goals in 134 appearances for the Rojiblancos.
Atletico, though, will only be able to register Costa when their transfer ban expires in January.
