Arsenal won the FA Community Shield after defeating Chelsea 4-1 on penalties at Wembley Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Arsene Wenger decided leave Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil out of the match day squad, while Alvaro Morata started on the bench for the Blues.
There was a good tempo to the opening 15 minutes, but neither side could carve out a clear-cut opportunity.
The Gunners went agonisingly close to breaking the deadlock in the 22nd minute as Danny Welbeck teed up Lacazette, who rattled the upright from just inside the box.
Petr Cech was called into action 10 minutes later, as he produced a fine save at his near post to deny Pedro Rodriguez.
The score remained goalless as the sides entered the halftime break.
However, Chelsea took the lead inside the first minute of the second half and Gary Cahill headed the ball into the box, where Victor Moses reacted quickest and managed to fire past Cech.
With Arsenal struggling to create chances, Wenger introduced Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott after 65 minutes.
Antonio Conte opted for a change of his own in the 73rd minute as Michy Batshuayi made way for Morata.
Granit Xhaka nearly brought Arsenal level three minutes with a fine effort from 25-yards out, but Thibaut Courtois produced a fine save to keep out the strike.
Chelsea were then reduced to 10 men in the 80th minute whe Pedro was sent off for late challenge on Mohamed Elneny.
Arsenal leveled matters from the resulting free-kick, as Kolasinac headed home into the bottom corner for his first goal for the club.
Neither side could find a winning goal in the closing stages, forcing the clash into a penalty shoot-out, where the Gunners triumphed 4-1.
