Despite only making his return to Serie A earlier in the month, AC Milan star Zlatan Ibrahimovic has already smashed a longstanding league record.
Ibrahimovic returned to Milan, where he previously spent two seasons between 2010 and 2012, after seeing out his contract with MLS side LA Galaxy at the end of last year. The former Sweden international has hit the ground running with the Rossoneri, and recently scored his first goal of his latest spell with the club – strike that ensured he has scored in each of the past four decades.
His arrival has also brought about a resurgence at Milan, with the club climbing to eighth in the league table after recording a draw and two wins since the Swede's return. The latter victory, which came following Sunday's 3-2 win over Udinese, saw Ibrahimovic reach 150 victories in Serie A faster than any other player in the competition's modern history.
According to Opta Sports, the 38-year-old achieved the milestone in 222 appearances, across his spells with Milan, rivals Inter Milan and Juventus, beating the previous record of 230 set by his former Inter teammate Esteban Cambiasso.
During that time, Ibrahimovic has scored 123 goals, and is one of only five active players to have scored more than 100 times in Serie A, alongside Fabio Quagliarella, Gonzalo Higuain, Ciro Immobile and Giampaolo Pazzini.
