Serie A
Result: Juventus 1-1 Atalanta
Date: 19 May 2019
Venue: Allianz Stadium
Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri was unable to register a win in his final home game as the Serie A champions were held to a 1-1 draw by Atalanta on Sunday evening.
Before the game got underway in Turin, Cristiano Ronaldo was handed his Most Valuable Player of the season award, which was announced on Saturday.
The visitors nearly got off to the perfect start as Robin Gosens' flick-on found Hans Hateboer, who rattled the crossbar from close range before Juve were able to clear.
The Old Lady had nothing to play having already secured league title, which was evident in the opening exchanges as Atalanta took control in the opening 20 minutes.
Chances continued to fall for the away side as Duvan Zapata sent an effort inches wide of the upright after skipping Joao Concelo and Andrea Andrea Bargzali.
The deadlock was eventually broken on 33 minutes as the Juve defence failed to deal with Masiello's cross, which was turned home by Josip Ilicic.
The second half saw Juve come out with a much improved approach , which nearly resulted in the equaliser as Cancelo sent one inches wide on the hour mark.
While the champions were struggling to find an equaliser, Wojciech Szczesny kept them in the game with a superb save to keep out Ilicic's free-kick.
With 10 minutes to go, parity was restored as second-half substitute Mario Mandzukic squeezed home a cross from Juan Cuadrado.
The game ended on a sour note for the home side, who had Federico Bernadeschi sent off in the second minute of time added on for a dangerous challenge on Musa Barrow.
Nevertheless, with Inter Milan losing to Napoli, Atalanta have now moved up to third spot heading in to the final game of the season next week.
