Aubameyang was the subject of interest from Real Madrid, AC Milan and the Chinese Super League over the past two months.

However, Milan sporting director Massimiliano Mirabelli has revealed that the Gabon international wanted to return the Serie A.

"Aubameyang is a great player. He wanted to come to Milan, but some marriages just don't happen, for one reason or another," Mirabelli was quoted as saying by FourFourTwo.

"Borussia Dortmund wouldn't sell and that's the way it went, but he remains a great striker."
Milan had a busy transfer window, bringing 11 players which include Leonardo Bonucci, Lucas Biglia, Hakan Calhanoglu, Ricardo Rodriguez, Mateo Musacchio, Andrea Conti, Franck Kessie, Fabio Borini and Nikola Kalinic.
