Romelu Lukaku has reportedly informed Inter Milan of his desire to join Chelsea, who set to offer the striker a huge salary increase.
Reports in Italy suggested that the Blues were preparing a new bid for the Belgium international after their first offer £85 million (R1.7 billion), including left-back Marcos Alonso, was rejected by Inter.
Renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has now reported that the Blues are getting more confident and are set to submit a new bid for the last season's Serie A Player of the Year.
According to the Italian journalist, the 28-year-old is open to a return to Stamford Bridge and has been offered a salary of €12 million (R203 million) per season, plus add-ons.
Sky Sports Italia have also reported that Lukaku has informed the Serie A champions he wants a return to the Premier League in this window.
The Lukaku move could seemingly have a knock-on effect as Inter will reportedly look to sign Atalanta star Duvan Zapata, while Blues striker Tammy Abraham could replace Zapata in Bergamo as he looks for regular game time.
