Kaka Explains Why He Rejected Man City

Former AC Milan star Kaka has explained why he rejected a move to English Premier League side Manchester City in 2009.

The 2002 World Cup winner was believed to be on his way to England to join the Citizens in 2009, but the moved never materialised.

The Brazilian midfielder eventually opted for a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid, where he endured a tough time with injuries.

“Negotiations went very far indeed,” Kaka told FourFourTwo.

“It came to the point where all of the numbers and the finer details had been discussed. The wages I had been offered were much, much higher than what I was earning with Milan.

“I found myself wondering what my life playing in England would be like, what my routine at this new club would be, how difficult it would be for my kids and my wife to move from home.

“All of these thoughts were swirling inside my head.

“I’d absolutely no idea that City were interested in signing me until they actually made their official offer to Milan.

“I came to the conclusion that it was not quite the right time for me to go to City, and the main reason was the uncertainty over the squad-building process.

“It wasn’t clear to me how the squad would be reshaped and I wasn’t convinced it would work.

“I was being asked to swap one of the most historic and successful clubs in Europe for a team who were only at the beginning of a new project, where I was supposed to be the first big player.

“It was safer to stay at Milan.”

@Sir loreI beg to differ. He was already a star player and had made his mark at Milan. He won the balon do'r already. Neymar and him are too different to compare. Neymar went to PSG to be a main star player to be recognised to win the balon do'r because under Messi's shadow he was not going to win it

He was afraid of a new challenge, his situation is not far from neymar's, instead of having went to man city like neymar went to psg, he opted to stay with a club that has "great history" instead of going to a club where he could make his mark and become the main star. Look at neymar, he's a star on his own in psg
