Juventus Extend Serie A Lead

It was a busy Sunday night in the Italian Serie A with 11 goals scored across six games as Hellas Verona, Cesena, Juventus and Torino winning.

Juventus maintained their lead at the top of the table after goals from Paul Pogba and Stephan Lichtsteiner handed them a 2-0 win over Chievo at the Juventus Stadium.

The loss for Chievo saw them drop into the relegation zone in 18th place while Juventus are seven points clear of seconded placed Roma who played to a 1-1 draw against Fiorentina also on Sunday.

Mario Gomez gave Fiorentina the lead before a goal from Adem Ljajic levelled matters to see them two teams share the spoils.

The draw leaves Fiorentina in sixth place on 31 points, three points adrift of fourth placed Sampdoria who drew 1-1 with Palermo on Sunday.

Eder opened the scoring for Sampdoria early on before Franco Vazquez equalised for Palermo in a draw that sees them move into eighth place on the table with 27 points.

Internazionale dropped to ninth place on the table with 26 points after suffering a 1-0 loss to Torino.

Emiliano Moretti scored in the 94th minute of the match to hand Torino their sixth win of the season as they moved up to 12th place with 25 points.

A single goal from Javier Saviola also handed Hellas Verona a 1-0 win over Atalanta to move them up to 14th place with 24 points while Atalanta dropped to 15th on 20 points.

The final match of the day was a basement battle and saw Cesena move off the bottom of the log with a 2-1 win over Parma.

Alejandro Rodriguez scored in the final minute of the match to see Cesena earn only their second win of the season as they moved into 19th place on 12 points, three points better off than Parma.
