Juventus returned to winning ways in the Serie A with a 3-0 away victory against Bologna on Sunday evening.
Miralem Pjanic opened the scoring for the visitors in the 27th minute before Mario Mandzukic doubled the advantage on 36 minutes.
Blaise Matuidi rounded off the scoring for the defending champions in the 64th minute as they moved up to second spot.
Hellas Verona 3-0 AC Milan
AC Milan's struggles in the Serie A continued after they were thrashed 3-0 by Hellas Verona on Sunday afternoon.
Goals from Andrea Caracciolo, Moise Kean and Daniel Bessa secured the win for the hosts on the day.
As a result, Milan remain in seventh position, 14 points adrift of the top four.
Crotone 1-0 Chievo
Ante Budimir's 34th minute strike was enough to hand Crotone a 1-0 win over Chievo and move the club up to 16th spot.
Sampdoria 3-3 Sassuolo
Sampdoria and Sassuolo settled for a share of the spoils after they played to a 3-3 draw on Sunday night.
The hosts raced into a two-goal lead thanks to strikes from Mattia Caldara and Josip Ilicic, before a quick-fire brace from Sergej Milinković-Savić restored parity.
Ilicic restored Sampdoria's lead from the penalty spot in the 50th minute, but Luis Alberto scored in the 79th minute to earn Sassuolo a point.
