Insigne Rescues Napoli & Inter Back To Winning Ways

Italian Serie A

Napoli needed a late goal from Lorenzo Insigne to salvage a draw against Sassuolo while Inter Milan returned to winning ways with victory over SPAL.

Sassuolo 1 - 1 Napoli

Lorenzo Insigne netted late for Napoli to rescue a 1-1 draw against Sassuolo at Mapei Stadium on Sunday evening.

Domenico Berardi took a shock lead for the hosts seven minutes after the break but while Carlo Ancelotti’s team looked like they were not going to get back in the game, Insigne found the equaliser with four minutes remaining to salvage the share of spoils.

Inter Milan  2-0 SPAL

Inter Milan moved within a point of rivals AC Milan in fourth place with a 2-0 win over SPAL in Serie A on Sunday afternoon at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

Lautaro Martinez had a goal disallowed for Inter in the first half but the hosts finally broke the deadlock in the 67th minute courtesy of Matteo Politano.

Roberto Gagliardini secured all the three points 13 minutes before time.

Frosinone 1-2 Torino

Torino dented Frosinone’s hopes of avoiding relegation with a 2-1 victory at Stadio Benito Stirpe on Sunday afternoon.

Luca Paganini gave the hosts hope of a much needed three points after he broke the deadlock three minutes before the break, but Andrea Belotti netted a brace in the 56th and 77th minute to keep Frosinone still needing five points to get out of the relegation zone with 11 matches left to play.

Sampdoria 1-2 Atalanta

Atalanta kept their hopes of finishing in the European places in Serie A alive after Robin Gosens netted late to sink Sampdoria 2-1 on Sunday afternoon.

Duvan Zapata broke the deadlock for the visitors five minutes after the break and Fabio Quagliarella levelled matters for Sampdoria in the 67th minute from the penalty spot.

However, Gosens scored the winner for Atalanta with six minutes remaining to clinch all the three points.
