Serie A champions, Juventus, were held to a 0-0 draw by Inter Milan at the San Siro on Sunday evening.
The visitors nearly broke the deadlock after just three minutes but Samir Handanovic was on hand to thwart Alvaro Morata's effort at the near post.
The opening 20 minutes proved to be stop-start affair, with players from both sides committing needless fouls, which resulted in a few yellow cards.
Giorgio Chiellini came to Juventus' rescue in the 27th minute, as the defender pulled off a fine last ditch challenge to deny Stefan Jovetic a certain strike at goal from 10-yards out.
Inter went close to breaking the deadlock in the 33rd minute when Marcelo Brozovic had a go from 30-yards, however his effort forced Gianluigi Buffon into a superb save.
Handanovic came to Inter's rescue again shortly after the break, as he pulled off a fine stop to keep out Juan Cuadrado's low effort from 12-yards out.
It proved to be the battle of the goalkeepers as they second half went on, with Buffon pulling off a fine save to deny Jovetic from close range in the 58th minute.
Juventus went agonisingly close in the 69th minute when Morata teed up Sami Khedira, who rattled the upright from close range.
Antonio Conte decided to shakes things up in the Juventus attack, as he introduced Paulo Dybala and Mario Mandzuki for the final 20 minutes.
However, neither side created openings in the final stages of the half and were forced to settle for a point a piece.
The draw moves Inter up to third spotin the Serie A table, while move up one spot into 15th, after eight games this season.
