Legendary French winger Franck Ribery could face a lengthy suspension after an altercation with a linesman this past weekend.
The 36-year-old took part in Fiorentina's 2-1 defeat to Lazio on Sunday, during which he got the assist for his side's only goal in the encounter, but was visibly angered by the officials' decision to allow La Viola's controversial winner to stand.
Ribery was seen protesting to the linesman after the match, and shoved the official not once but twice during their heated conversation.
According to the Daily Mail, the former Bayern Munich star was shown a red card despite the match having already concluded, and could now face a lengthy suspension.
The usual sanction for a straight red card is a three-match suspension, but it has been reported that Ribery could be hit with a longer ban in an attempt to curb the mistreatment of match officials.
The former France international joined Fiorentina as a free agent at the beginning of the season, and has scored two goals in nine appearances for the club since.
