Cristiano Ronaldo was on target yet again as Juventus cruised to the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia with a 3-1 victory over AS Roma on Wednesday night.
Bianconeri boss Maurizio Sarri rotated his side, as veteran goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon, Gonzalo Higuain, Douglas Costa and Rodrigo Bentancur were among those given a run.
After an early spell of wasted chances from both sides, Ronaldo broke the deadlock in the 26th minute for the home side with a low strike into the far corner after he was released by Higuain on the break.
Bentancur doubled the lead for Juventus with seven minutes remaining of the first stanza, after curling home a lovely strike that sailed in off the crossbar.
The hosts were not done there as Leonardo Bonucci bagged the third goal first-half stoppage time with a powerful header at the back post after Costa delivered a telling cross from a short-corner.
Roma had a brilliant chance to pull a goal back three minutes from the break but Kalinic struck the post with a close range while Higuain also cracked the crossbar immediately thereafter with a header from Juan Cuadrado's cross.
The visitors eventually reduced the deficit five minutes inside the second stanza after Cenzig Under charged his way towards the box and unleashed a powerful strike that hit the underside of the crossbar and came off the backside of Buffon.
Paulo Fonseca's troops came close to pulling back the second goal back five minutes later after Florenzi went clear at the near post and let fly a low shot across the face of goal that was brilliantly saved by Buffon with his legs.
Fonseca made a tactical change with 14 minutes remaining, as Bruni Peres replaced Amadou Diawara while in the same moment Sarri threw on Blaise Matuidi for Adrien Rabiot.
Ronaldo came close to getting the fourth goal for Bianconeri with four minutes remaining after being played through on by Miralem Pjanic but his curling strike sailed slightly wide from ten-yards out as the encounter finished 3-1.
