The 48-year-old began his second stint at Los Blancos on 11 March, but was not able to turn the club's fortunes for the campaign around.
With Real having already been knocked out of the UEFA Champions League as well as Copa del Rey, and out of the LaLiga title race, Zidane's men have picked up only five wins – drawing two matches and losing four – since his return to the club's dugout.
In addition, there is reportedly some friction between Zidane and club president Florentino Perez over Los Blancos' transfer activities. The Real supremos are believed to be at loggerheads over whether or not goalkeeper Keylor Navas should be sold – Zidane wants him to stay – as well as the arrival of Paul Pogba, one of the coach's main targets.
According to La Stampa, the Frenchman has made it clear to Perez he wants complete control of the club's transfer plans, with a massive squad revamp in the pipeline. It has even been claimed that Zidane has given the president an ultimatum: either he get his way or he will leave the Santiago Bernabeu once again.
The France legend's recent comments on the goalkeeper situation at the club have only fuelled the rumours.
"How do I pick first and second keeper? I'll say this when the season starts, I'll say who will be the first and the second, it's my decision, but who do you think the team is? It's clear as water," he said as quoted by Marca.
"If I cannot do what I want in my team, I leave, that's clear, then there are the people who work for the signings and we work on it together."
Juventus, meanwhile, are believed to be monitoring the situation, with Zidane said to be one of the candidates to replace Massimiliano Allegri, who will leave the club at the end of the season.
The Frenchman and former Juventus midfielder was believed to be high on the club's wish list to coach the Bianconeri in future before he decided to return to Santiago Bernabeu.
However, the Italian giants know their chances to get Zidane are slim and are also looking at other potential coaching options, which you can see in the gallery above.
