Report: Zidane Wants African Star At Real
Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has asked the club to end an African star's loan spell at Borussia Dortmund early, as he looks to bolster his squad for next season.
Achraf Hakimi joined Dortmund on a two-year loan deal before this season and became the club's first choice left-back before his campaign ended due to a metatarsal injury.
According to AS, Zidane has already made the request to management as he wants to provide competition for Marcelo at the left full-back position.
However, Dortmund chief Michael Zorc insists the Morocco international will not return to the Santiago Bernabeu next season.
“Hakimi will not return to Real Madid this summer, I can rule that out,” Zorc told reporters, according to Football Espana.
“We spoke with his agent last week and yes I read what the players told the media, but he will stay at Dortmund and we all know this.
“He is coming back to Dortmund this week to support the team and feel part of the club, and will return to us following the Africa Cup of Nations this summer.”
