Los Blancos broke the bank for Eden Hazard recently, confirming his reported €100 million (R1.67 billion) deal last Friday.
The Belgium international was the fourth arrival at the Santiago Bernabeu in this window, but it sounds like there could be another soon.
During a pre-match press conference ahead of his country's UEFA European Championship qualifier against Andorra, France boss Didier Deschamps seemingly let it slip that left-back Ferland Mendy "will play at Real Madrid" next season.
"Two years ago, he was in the second division and now he will play at Real Madrid," he said, as quoted by AS.
"He can play on either side and his development is stunning."
Mendy has been heavily linked with a move to Madrid in the past month, with Zidane reportedly personally calling him to convince him of his project.
Some say the 24-year-old has already had an initial medical, but will need to undergo a second one after some minor concerns over his hip were detected.
The Olympique Lyon left-back, though, is believed to be confident of passing the examination, and will likely join Los Blancos for a fee of about €50 million (R837 million).
