Sweden 1-2 Germany
The Germany women's national football team secured the gold medal at the Olympics, after they defeated Sweden 2-1 in the final on Friday evening.
After a goalless first half, Germany opened the scoring three minutes into the second half thanks to Dzsenifer Marozsan.
The lead was doubled on the hour-mark courtesy of an own goal from Linda Sembrant.
Sweden did reduced the deficit in the 66th minute when Stina Blackstenius fired past Almuth Schul. However, it proved to be nothing more than a consolation as Germany went on to claim the Gold.
Brazil 1-2 Canada
Canada secured the bronze medal at the 2016 Olympic Games, after they defeated hosts Brazil 2-1 in the third place play-off tie.
Deanne Rose handed the Canadians the lead after 25 minutes, before Christine Sinclair doubled their lead in the 52nd minute.
Beatriz pulled one back for Brazil in the 79th minute, but it proved too be nothing more than a consolation.
