Spanish La Liga
Result: Real Madrid 4-1 Sevilla
Date: 14 May 2017
Venue: Santiago Bernabeu
The race for the La Liga title remains in Real Madrid's hands, after a brace from Cristiano Ronaldo helped secure a 4-1 win over Sevilla on Sunday evening.
Real wasted no time in taking the lead as some quick thinking saw Nacho stroke the ball into the back of the net while Sevilla were still trying to organise their wall for a set-piece.
The hosts were in control, but the crowd was nearly silenced in the 19th minute when Stevan Jovetic rattled the upright from 12-yards out.
Three minutes later, Real doubled their lead as Ronaldo slotted home from close range after James Rodriguez's shot was parried into the Portuguese's path.
Sevilla were on the back foot for most of the half but they nearly pulled a goal back in the 32nd minute when Jovetic's lob crashed against the crossbar.
When the visitors did manage to bypass the Real defence, they met an inspired Navas who produced a couple fine saves just before the break.
However, the visitors were not to be denied three minutes into the second half when Jovetic brilliantly placed the ball into the bottom corner from the edge of the box, 2-1.
Zidane responded by introducing Casemiro and Lucas Vazquez for James Rodriguez and Alvaro Morata on the hour mark.
Real eventually restored their two-goal advantage in the 78th minute when Toni Kroos picked out Ronaldo, who rifled the ball past Sergio Rico from the edge of the box.
Zinedine Zidane's pushed for more goals in the closing stages and they were rewarded in the 83rd minute when Kroos turned home Nacho's cross to round off an emphatic win.
Los Blancos remain level on points with Barcelona, but have two games remaining, including their game in hand against Celta Vigo on Wednesday.
