A former FC Barcelona advisor has claimed that the Blaugrana rejected the chance to sign Erling Haaland, who is considered one of the best talents in world football today.
The Highest-Paid Player At Each EPL Club Revealed
The 20-year-old joined Borussia Dortmund in January this year, and has since found the back of the net 23 times in 26 matches across all competitions for the club.
Prior to his move to Germany, Haaland had scored 29 goals in 27 matches for Red Bull Salzburg in Austria, after representing Bryne FK and Molde in his country of birth, Norway.
It was in the earlier days of the player's career that former Barcelona advisor Ariedo Braida claims to have recommended him to the Catalan club, although they seemingly decided against moving for the striker.
"They did not give me the responsibility, they put others in charge of this work," he told Marca.
"I was studying players and I wrote down some names like Haaland from Borussia Dortmund when he was still playing for Molde.
"But at the club, they told me 'no', that he didn't have the Barca profile.
"From Italy, I also suggested other names, such as (Nicolo) Barella, who is now at Inter, or (Nicolo) Zaniolo from Roma.
"But if you do not have the responsibility to execute this because it has been given to others, you cannot do anything. I was separated."
