With Bruno Fernandes being one of Europe's most sought-after players, what Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp whispered in his ear after a recent friendly match has now reportedly been revealed.
Towards the end of July, Liverpool and Sporting CP played out a 2-2 draw in a pre-season friendly, and Klopp was seen chatting with the Portuguese midfielder after the match.
The brief exchange sparked speculation that Liverpool might be interested in the Portuguese star, and O Jogo, who cited The Game, has now revealed what the German manager reportedly told the Sporting captain.
"Good game. Congratulations on showing off. You're a top player!" Klopp is said to have told Fernandes.
Klopp's praise seems innocent enough, but speculation persists that the former Sampdoria playmaker could be on the move.
Fernandes caught the attention of a number of Europe's top clubs after scoring 32 goals for Sporting last season, the most ever by a Portuguese midfielder in a single season.
The 24-year-old has been strongly linked with a move to Liverpool's rivals Manchester United, although the Reds have also been credited with an interest in the Portuguese international.
Fernandes has made 13 international appearances for Portugal, and was part of the squad that won the inaugural Uefa Nations League in June.
