An insider has claimed that FC Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi has given Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez a phone call to tell him to join the Catalan club.
The 22-year-old Nerazzurri forward has been strongly been linked with a transfer to the LaLiga giants, and is expected to be Luis Suarez's long-term replacement at the Blaugrana.
Messi recently praised his countryman publicly, but Adrian Ruben Fernandez, who works for Martinez's former team Racing Club in Argentina, has claimed that the 32-year-old phoned the Inter striker because he would like to see him join Barca.
"Messi called him and wants him at his side soon, I have no doubts," he told Sport.
"So they are almost defining the operation of his signing. I know that everything will go very well for him in Barcelona and that Lautaro will be an excellent replacement for Luis Suarez.
"He is his ideal heir, he has barbaric conditions and thanks to Barca he will continue to grow as a footballer and as a man."
Martinez has scored 16 goals and assisted a further four strikes in 31 matches across all competitions for Inter so far this season.
