Lionel Messi scored a brace on the final day of the 2018/19 LaLiga campaign, and in doing so, has now scored more than 50 goals in a season on six different occasions in his career, and also surpassed Cristiano Ronaldo in the ranking for the players with the most club goals scored.

As a result, the Argentine claimed a sixth LaLiga Golden Boot, having won the Pichichi title in the 2009/10, 2011/12, 2012/13, 2016/17, 2017/18 and now 2018/19 campaigns – equalling record-holder Telmo Zarra's feat.

Messi's brace against Eibar saw him extend his overall club goals tally to 602 strikes, while Ronaldo is currently on 601.

According to @BarcaStat and data backed up by the Rec.Sport.Soccer Statistics Foundation (RSSSF), when taking into account only goals in official games and matches in first divisions, only four players have netted more club goals than Messi and Ronaldo.
