Reports coming out of the local media in Brazil that Argentina star, Lionel Messi, will be a huge hit at the World Cup this year.
The latest reports out of Brazil claim that during Argentina’s first open training session at Belo Horizonte’s Independencia Stadium, all previous rivalry between the two South American football nations, Brazil and Argentina, seemed forgotten.
Instead, local fans reportedly invaded the pitch screaming, “Messi, Messi.”
Before security officials were able to control the situation, Brazilian supporters, not only wore his famous number 10 shirt but there was also a Ronaldinho look-alike (his former Barcelona teammate) who ran up to Messi and knelt at his feet.
This happened much to the amusement of the other Argentina players like Martin Demichelis, Pablo Zabaleta, Ezequiel Lavezzi and, of course, Messi himself.
In another interesting twist, as the players were walking off the field towards the dressing room, one fanatical Brazilian jumped over a fence, took his own cap off and pretended to polish the Argentinean striker’s boots.
In response, the friendly Messi gave the man his jacket.
Argentina will face Bosnia and Herzegovina on Sunday, 15 June.
