In the build-up to Argentina's friendly with Guatemala on Saturday, interim head coach Lionel Scaloni remained coy when asked about FC Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi's international future.
The five-time Ballon d'Or winner, who was the team's captain at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, is believed to be considering his position with the national team following his country’s poor showing in the tournament.
Messi, who was left out of Argentina's latest squad, yet to make a decision on his international future, and Scaloni has stated that it a topic he does not want to address right now.
"We already talked about it," the 40-year-old coach said, as quoted by FourFourTwo.
"I think it's clear, we spoke with him and we'll see on the next list if he comes back or not.
"I don't think it's justified to speak about him now, the day before a match.
"I'm sure we'll see what happens in the future."
Messi has made 128 appearances for La Albiceleste so far, scoring 65 goals and assisting a further 44 strikes.
