Zlatan Slams Pep Over Messi Favouritism

Zlatan Ibrahimovic Slams Pep Guardiola Over Lionel Messi Favouritism

By Kurt Buckerfield - Dec 13, 2017 01:27 PM @KurtLaduma

Manchester United superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic has once again aimed jabs at Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola for how he favoured Lionel Messi over other stars at FC Barcelona.

Ronaldo Extends World Record Over Messi

The fallout between the Swede and Spaniard is a well-documented one following Ibrahimovic's 2011 autobiography titled I Am Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

In his book, the former Blaugrana forward explained how his relationship with Guardiola had deteriorated in Spain, and he has once again spoken about the issue, saying his troubles with the manager began after he noticed he was being sacrificed for Messi.

"I'd scored a lot of goals in my first six months and we won two Super Cups. The first six months were perfect," Ibrahimovic told Sky Sports Italia.

"After that, we changed system and tactics, and it wasn't good for me, so the club told me to talk to Guardiola.

"And I told Guardiola that he'd sacrificed the other players for Messi. He told me he understood me.

"After that, he put me on the bench for the next game, the one after that and the one after that.

"And I thought, 'He's solved the problem very well I see!' After that, he didn't talk to me or even look at me.

"I'd walk into a room and he'd walk out. I'd go to meet him and he'd go somewhere else. I understood that there was something beyond football."

Ibrahimovic also said it was not only him who had these kinds of issues with the current City boss.

"The problem was his, it was he who hadn't solved the problem with me. I remember on my first day, he told me that the Barcelona players didn't turn up to training in Ferraris or Porsches," he added.

"He'd already judged me then, but if you don't know a person then you can't judge them. I had my experience with him, I don't know about others.

"But I read the same thing had happened to (Mario) Mandzukic and (Samuel) Eto'o. He wasn't the worst coach I'd worked under, but he was certainly the most immature because a man solves his problems."

Reports: Messi Does Not Want Valverde To Sell Barca Star

The forward scored 22 goals and assisted 13 strikes in 46 games for Barca.

@king of them @LL (Mae a Cowditor) I have been following soccer more than you think. From The era of Begomi, Jean Pierie Papin, Maradona, till to date, Maldini brothers etc. The fact is Pep won many trophies and I am talking about European valuable trophies without Ibra and he is not afraid to instill his methods and rigid players will always be casualties. There is no way he can use or please players who cannot do what he expects. The believer of total football(tikitaka). Only haters cannot see how Man City is playing. This is beautiful football with results.

All I cn say is that pep n Leo was the best thing ever hpnd to Barcelona. The sacrifices pep made 2 plan around messi materialize very well. Same thing happened with yaya at city but look a city now. So, in my opinion Pep is the man more than zlatan bcoz he give football clubs results with his brave decisions

Players will always have issues whenever a manager select a better player to play . Messi was a better player and Pep achieved a lot without Ibra at Barca. Ibra cannot play football but can fulfill rigid European typical striking role while Pep doesn't believe in huge strikers who cannot dribble or create something out of nothing. David Villa was something as he was a dribbler and and also created space fro other players and Messi was a full package. I am taking nothing from Mario Manzukic and Ibra they are good strikers but not good enough to play in Pep methods . Pep is not of whoofing the ball to tall strikers.
