With Neymar pushing for a move to FC Barcelona, what Lionel Messi sent him in a text message to spark the discussions of the Brazilian's possible return to the Catalan giants has now reportedly been revealed.
Despite having been heavily tipped to rejoin the Blaugrana in this window, it appears that Neymar will remain at Paris Saint-Germain for another season.
Barca, Real Madrid and Juventus all emerged as potential destinations for the Brazilian, who was only said to be interested in a return to his former club in Spain.
A new report has suggested that Neymar's determination to move back to the Blaugrana may have been inspired by Messi following a text message the Argentine had sent him.
According to L'Equipe, Barca's captain sent him a message telling him he is needed in order for the Spanish giants to win the Uefa Champions League again.
It was that message that sparked Neymar's attempts to return to the Camp Nou, with Messi then turning to Barca officials to convince them the Brazilian should be given another chance at the club.
The Blaugrana did try to bring the player back to LaLiga, but their lack of funds for the transfer hurt their chances of re-signing him in this window.
It seems Neymar will remain a Les Parisiens player for the foreseeable future, but it appears highly likely that Barca go back for his signature, either in the January transfer window or at the end of this campaign.
