It has been revealed what Cristiano Ronaldo’s son said the first time he met his dad’s long-time rival Lionel Messi.
Ronaldo and Messi have provided supporters with almost two decades of fierce entertainment at the highest level, with the two superstars having won 11 Ballons d'Or between them since 2008.
Though the comparisons remain, the height of their rivalry was undoubtedly between 2009 and 2018, during which the Portuguese and Argentine played for the two biggest clubs in Spain in Real Madrid and Barcelona.
In 2017, at the Ballon d’Or Gala in Paris, Ronaldo’s son, Cristiano Junior, attended the ceremony along with the then-Los Blancos forward’s mom, Dolores Aveiro, who last year revealed that her grandson was surprised by Messi’s height.
"I was with him and I said, 'look, it's Messi,' and he replied, 'that's not Messi, he's short," she recalled in 2020, according to Marca.
"Then my son encouraged him to wave. Messi is a very good person. My grandson is already taller than him, (laughs) it was a very fun moment."
