Following his controversial attempt to force a move to FC Barcelona in the previous transfer window, Neymar ended up staying at Paris Saint-Germain. Here is the latest on the Brazilian's future.
The 27-year-old was desperate to leave the French champions in the previous window, but failed to get his desired return to the Catalan giants.
Neymar was said to be close to joining the Blaugrana, with PSG willing to let him leave the club for the right price, but it was one Barca could not meet.
Several of the Spanish giants' first-team players were believed to be keen to see their former teammate return, with previous reports suggesting some players were even ready to help out financially.
While Barca's board claimed to be open to the idea of seeing Neymar back in their colours, French publication Journal du Dimanche reported that the club were never really interested in making the transfer happen.
Superstar Lionel Messi and some of his teammates openly admitted they would love Neymar back playing with them at the Camp Nou, but it appears his return was not a realistic possibility.
While it remains to be seen what happens next in this saga, the latest news does seem to directly affect his future. If Barca did not see his return as feasible in the recent window, circumstances are likely to remain the same until the end of the season, especially after reports emerged suggesting that the Blaugrana do not have the required funds to re-sign the Selecao talisman.
Neymar still has two and a half years left on his contract with the Ligue 1 side, for whom he has scored 55 goals and assisted a further 29 strikes in 65 games.
