Ronaldo, along with the rest of Juventus' first-team squad, has agreed to lower his salary in order to help the Italian giants cope financially during the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.
However, according to Il Messaggero, his future is up in the air due to the economic damage caused by the pandemic, which will have significant financial repercussions for the Serie A leaders.
Ronaldo's mammoth salary of €31 million (R613 million) a year could come under review, and Juventus might not be able to meet his demands once the crisis is over.
There are three scenarios reportedly being discussed: The Portugal talisman could either leave the club in what could be a move worth about €70 million (R1.4 billion); he could agree to a new contract with a lower salary; or he could see out his current deal, which is set to expire in June 2022, and then leave the club for free.
As of right now, though, there does not appear to be any potential suitor after his services.
