Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller is probably one of the most underrated players in football, but he is outdoing Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo this season, scoring more goals than the two superstars combined thus far.
The 25-year-old can appear to be a bit clumsy at times and doesn’t necessarily look as skilful as the current best two players in the game, but he is now proving his class.
Muller has begun the Bundesliga campaign with five strikes in just three league games, scoring half of Bayern’s goals.
He has always been impressive on national duty too, particularly at World Cup level, where he has scored 10 goals in two tournaments. He added three goals and two assists to his Germany tally this passed week, helping Jogi Low's side to six crucial points in their Euro 2016 qualification campaign.
Messi and Ronaldo, meanwhile, are yet to open their league scoring records. However, the Argentine found his scoring boots on national team duty, scoring three goals in two games with Argentina.
Ronaldo is yet to find the back of the net for either country or club. The Portuguese has only scored one goal since returning from his holidays, for Los Blancos in a pre-season friendly against Manchester City.
The Real Madrid star has gone eight games without scoring since, while Muller has written all the positive headlines and Messi is slowly getting back to his best.
