A former Manchester United teammate of Cristiano Ronaldo has insisted there is one star in Europe, who is better than the Portuguese was at his age.
Eric Djemba-Djemba, who played 35 matches for United between 2003 and 2005 – the time Ronaldo rose to stardom at the club, believes Paris Saint-Germain teenager Kylian Mbappe is ahead of Ronaldo in his development.
"I find Mbappe a notch above Cristiano Ronaldo at this age. I find Mbappe a bit above," the former Cameoon internation told SFR Sport.
"At the same age, Mbappe has a little more experience. But for me, it's the same class."
Despite his young age of just 18 years, Mbappe has already scored nine goals and assisted another three in 14 UEFA Champions League appearances for Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco in his career so far.
Ronaldo, meanwhile, only scored his first goal in the competiton when he was 22 years old, hitting a brace in a 7-1 quarter-final thumping of AS Roma in 2007.
However, the Portuguese has since scored 113 Chgampions League goals overall – 15 more than second-placed Lionel Messi – and Mbappe still has a long way to go in order to match this impressive record.
