The Juventus superstar took his Serie A tally to 14 strikes with his goal against AS Roma on Sunday, breaking into the top 10 of the leading league scorers ranking for the first time in this campaign.
In addition, he also overtook Messi, who is currently on 13 strikes in LaLiga this season.
However, Ronaldo is still six goals shy of Europe's leading goalscorer, Ciro Immobile. The Lazio forward struck once again on the weekend to take his total to 20 strikes, becoming the first player to hit the milestone in 2019/20.
He is followed by Bundesliga duo Robert Lewandowski and Timo Werner, who have been out of action for three weeks due to the German top flight's winter break but have scored 19 and 18 goals, respectively.
Jamie Vardy, with 17 goals, is in fourth place, before a group of six players, including Ronaldo, follow with 14 league strikes to their names.
