Edinson Cavani is now the sole leader in the ranking after helping Paris Saint-Germain to beat Monaco, scoring his 16th Ligue 1 goal of the campaign. He is followed by Inter’s Mauro Icardi and Lazio’s Ciro Immobile, who both have netted 15 times so far.
Inter Milan forward Radamel Falcao and Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski complete the top five with 13 strikes respectively.
Messi dropped down to sixth spot after scoring just one goal in his last six La Liga games and now sits on 12 overall – as many as his Argentina teammate Paulo Dybala for Juventus in Serie A.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who became the joint African record scorer in Bundesliga history on the weekend, follows in eighth position with 11 strikes overall - as many as Lyon’s Nabil Fekir.
Mohamed Salah is the second African among the top 10 after becoming the first Premier League player to hit 10 goals this season, while Lyon’s Mariano Diaz and Napoli’s Dries Mertens have also scored 10 league goals respectively.
Ronaldo, meanwhile, only scored his second La Liga goal of the 2017/18 campaign on the weekend and remains somewhat off the pace.
