French publication France Football looked through the history books to compare the deadliest forward lines in European Cup – European Champions Cup and UEFA Champions League – history.
However, neither ‘MSN’ nor ‘BBC’ were selected as the top trio despite dominating the headlines over recent years. Instead the triplet of Alfredo Di Stefano, Ferenc Puskas and Paco Gento, who helped Real Madrid to lift five consecutive Champions Cups between 1955 and 1960, were named as the best trio in European Cup history.
The legendary Los Blancos forward line is followed by FC Barcelona’s famous ‘MSN’ trio, which scored 122 goals between them in 2014/15 when the Catalan giants last won the Champions League title.
A trio including Cristiano Ronaldo follows in third spot, but it’s not Real’s famous ‘BBC’, but instead the Portuguese’s partnership with Wayne Rooney and Carlos Tevez, which led Manchester United to their last UEFA Champions League title in 2008, completes the top three.
