Here are the top goalscorers across the world’s top five leagues in all competitions, with nobody coming close to Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi – but who of the two has scored more?
Click through through the gallery above to see the 10 players with the most goals in the world’s five best leagues across all competitions over the last decade, according to IFFHS.
The superstar duo have battled each other for personal accolades for more than a decade and are also dominating the scoring charts between 01 January 2011 and 31 December 2020.
The difference between them could not be slimmer, with just one goal dividing the race for the top goalscorer of the decade in Ronaldo’s favour.
Going into December, Messi was still leading the race with 546 to 543 goals, but seven Ronaldo goals in last month of 2020 in comparison to just three by the Argentine have swung the contest in the Portuguese’s favour.
The difference between the superstar duo and the rest is colossal with Robert Lewandowski sitting in third place, 132 goals behind Messi.
The race for fourth spot is quite tight, with four players being just separated by 13 strikes. However, Zlatan Ibrahimovic won the contest with 340 goals, followed by Luis Suarez with 335.
Edinson Cavani, Neymar as well as one African superstar also made the top 10 list, which you can seen by clicking through the gallery above!
