Messi scored his fifth LaLiga goal of the season when the Catalan giants were held to a draw by Girona on the weekend, climbing into second spot in the European goalscoring ranking.
Only Marseille's Florian Thauvin has scored more, with six strikes. However, Messi shares the second spot with Chelsea's Eden Hazard, Fulham's Aleksandar Mitrovic, Girona's Cristhian Stuani and Genoa’s Krzysztof Piatek.
Paris Saint-Germain duo Neymar and Kylian Mbappe are two of a number of players who have scored four times so far, while Ronaldo netted his third Serie A goal on the weekend.

Messi’s next chance to add to his tally comes on Wednesday night, when Barca travel to Leganes, while Ronaldo will hope continue his recent scoring streak when Juventus host Bologna on the same evening.
