Ronaldo has picked up nine Man of the Match awards in this campaign, more than any other player in Serie A, according to WhoScored.
The majority of those came from his fine performances in December and January, during which he scored in 11 successive games.
Messi, though, is the only player in Europe's top five leagues to have picked up more, with the FC Barcelona captain being named MOTM on 13 occasions in LaLiga this season.
The top duo are followed by a group of seven players who have all been named Man of the Match eight times in this campaign.
Among them is Serie A's leading goalscorer Ciro Immobile, who is currently also ahead of the chasing pack in the European Golden Shoe race after scoring 27 goals – six more than Ronaldo.
RB Leipzig and Germany striker Timo Werner is the Bundesliga player with most Man of the Match performances (eight), while Neymar and Dimitri Payet have collected the most MOTM awards in Ligue 1.
Kevin De Bruyne and Sadio Mane have received the most MVP accolades in the Premier League with seven apiece, but they remain outside the top nine, which you can see in the gallery above.
All players will now go on a break, with Serie A, LaLiga, Ligue 1 and the Premier League all being suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic, while the Bundesliga's matches this weekend will be played behind closed doors before being halted too.
