The new year has got off to a fantastic start for many of Europe's most talented attackers, but no one is more in form than Atalanta striker Duvan Zapata – the Colombian has struck eight times in just four matches since the beginning of January.
Second to the 27-year-old is five-time Ballon d'Or winner Messi, who has scored the same number of goals, but has played three more games than Zapata has.
The Argentine, averaging a goal every 71 minutes since the turn of the year, has found the back of the net in every match he has played in so far in 2019.
Fiorentina winger Federico Chiesa is next on the list with his seven goals in five matches in the new year so far, an identical record to Paris Saint-Germain's Edinson Cavani.
The Uruguayan's club teammate Kylian Mbappe comes in at fifth in the rankings, having struck on six occasions in five appearances so far in 2019.
There are five more in-form forwards in the list, but no Ronaldo, who has scored on only three occasions since the turn of the year – click through the gallery above to see the full standing!
