The Highest-Paid Serie A Stars After Ronaldo Deal

Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly became the third highest-paid player in world football with his move to Juventus, but how does his whopping €30 million annual salary compare to the rest of the top earners in Serie A?

Click through the gallery above to see Serie A's highest-paid players, and what they earn annually.

The Portugal captain's €30 million (R469 million) annual salary in Italy is only beaten by Lionel Messi, who is understood to earn €46 million (R719 million) a year, and Neymar, with €36 million (R563 million).

However, in Serie A, no one pockets as much as Ronaldo does, and the gap to second-placed Gonzalo Higuain is quite astonishing. The new AC Milan striker reportedly receives €8.5 million (R133 million) annually, according to beIN SPORTS correspondent Tancredi Palmeri.

Higuain and Ronaldo are followed by Paul Dybala, who is understood to take home €7 million (R109 million) per annum.

Juventus winger Douglas Costa and Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma complete the top five with their yearly salaries of €6 million (R94 million).

Leonardo Bonucci reportedly took a pay cut in order to return to Juventus after just one season with Milan, and he now earns €5.5 million (R86 million)annually, according to Palmeri.

Inter Milan forward Mauro Icardi and Juventus duo Blaise Matuidi and Emre Can follow with €5 million (R78 million) per season, while AS Roma's Edin Dzeko, Juve's Miralem Pjanic, and Napoli's Lorenzo Insigne and Dries Mertens all pocket €4.5 million (R70 million) a year.

Do you think the massive difference in salary between Ronaldo and the rest of the top Serie A earners is justified? Have your say in the comments section below.
