Messi/Ronaldo/Neymar Watch

The Highest-Paid Players In Football Right Now

With the European transfer window having closed on Monday, here are the highest-paid players in football right now. Check out where the game's superstars, including Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar, rank!

Click through the gallery above to see the top earners in the game, and what they earn annually from their clubs, according to Marca and Italian journalist Tancredi Palmeri.

FC Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi, whose shocking exit clause was revealed earlier, remains at the top of the ranking.

The Argentine reportedly put pen to paper on deal worth a whopping €46 million (R750 million) a year when he last extended his Blaugrana contract in 2017.

He is followed by Neymar, who desperately wanted to leave Paris Saint-Germain in the latest window to rejoin Barcelona. The Brazilian was reportedly even prepared to take a pay cut on his current annual earnings of €36 million (R587 million).

However, PSG and the Blaugrana could not agree terms on the transfer, which means he remains the second-highest-paid player in the game.

The top duo are followed by Cristiano Ronaldo, with the Portuguese superstar said to pocket €31 million (R506 million) per annum since joining Juventus ahead of the 2018/19 campaign.

Of the movers from the most recent window, only Alexis Sanchez and Eden Hazard are believed to be among football's top earners.

The Chilean joined Inter Milan, who will cover a percentage of his €22.5 million (R367 million) yearly deal with Manchester United for the remainder of the season, while Hazard put pen to paper on a lucrative contract worth €23 million (R375 million) a year when he joined Real Madrid.

Andres Iniesta, Oscar, Hulk and Javier Mascherano, all of whom are playing in Asia, are the other players on the list – you can see the full ranking in the gallery above!
