It is the 22nd edition of the list, with France Football starting their "Salaries of the Stars" overview in 1999.
There is once again no goalkeeper among football's top earners, while four players from LaLiga dominate the top 10.
It also includes two players from Ligue 1, one each from Serie A, the Premier League and the Bundesliga, and just one from outside of Europe, namely Japan.
FC Barcelona captain Lionel Messi has stayed at the summit of the ranking, with an estimated overall income of €131 million (R2.5 billion) a year. This amount consists of his Barcelona salary and bonuses, as well as income from sponsors such as adidas, Pepsi and LAY’S, among others.
His longstanding rival Ronaldo follows in second place with €118 million (2.26 billion) from his Juventus salary and bonuses, and endorsement deals with the likes of Nike, Tag Heuer and Armani.
Brazil superstar Neymar completes the podium with €95 million (R1.82 billion). The Paris Saint-Germain forward is the highest-paid player in France in addition to sponsorships with, among others, Beats by Dre, Nike and Red Bull.
