The Los Blancos duo have struggled to find the back of the net in La Liga this campaign, having scored just two goals between them.
Only the attacking pair of winless Serie A side Benevento has scored less league goals than Ronaldo and Benzema among Europe's top five leagues, as Marca pointed out.
But which duo leads the ranking? We did some digging on Transfermarkt.
Paris Saint-Germain pair Edinson Cavani and Neymar have netted 22 times between them this season so far, more than any other duo in Europe's top five leagues. The Uruguayan has netted 15 Ligue 1 goals, while Neymar has scored seven times.
Cavani and Neymar are followed by Juventus' attacking duo of Paulo Dybala and Gonzalo Higuain, who have netted 20 league goals between them in 2017/18 so far.
Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez share third place with Inter Milan's Mauro Icardi and Ivan Perisic, with both duos having netted 17 times already.
As many as six pairs share the fifth position in the ranking, having netted 16 goals each. Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Aguero are joined by the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Maximilian Philipp of Borussia Dortmund, as well as Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski and Arjen Robben, among others.
Napoli duo Dries Mertens and Jose Callejon and Olympique Lyon pair Mariano Diaz and Memphis Depay complete the top 12 duos in Europe right now, with both duos scoring 15 goals between their two main strikers so far.
